Triumphant Le Mans 24 Hour XJR-9 racing livery applied to special-edition Jaguar F-PACE SVR
Jaguar has commemorated its famous 1988 Le Mans 24 Hour win with a special Jaguar F-PACE SVR Edition 1988 that shares the victorious XJR-9 racer’s livery.
The limited-run F-PACE SVR, created by the British car-maker’s Jaguar SV Bespoke division, sees the flagship SUV painted in the same Midnight Amethyst gloss paint used by the original Silk Cut tobacco sponsor.
The 2022 Jaguar F-PACE SVR Edition 1988 also sports a set of Champagne Gold satin 22-inch forged alloy rims and Sunset Gold accents.
Gold is also used for the ‘Jaguar’ lettering on the rear boot lid plus the laser-etched ‘Edition 1988’ logos on the front wings.
As standard, the Edition 1988 also gets Jaguar’s Black Pack that adds gloss black door caps, brake callipers and centre caps. The letter ‘R’ on the SVR is also painted gloss black.
Inside, there’s more minor tweaks that include carbon-fibre trim and more gold detailing on the steering wheel, gear shift paddles and seats.
Just 394 examples of the Jaguar F-PACE SVR Edition 1988 will be made, which is precisely how many laps it took for the XJR-9s to win the Le Mans 24 Hour.
Under the bonnet there’s been no changes, with the supercharged 5.0-litre V8 producing the same 405kW and 700Nm as the standard car.
Combined with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission, the SUV can accelerate from 0-100km/h sprint in just 4.0 seconds and reach a top speed of 286km/h.
There’s no word yet on whether any of the new limited F-PACE SVR Edition 1988s will be offered outside of the UK, but in its home market the Le Mans-inspired special commands a hefty £23,955 ($A42,000) premium.
In Australia, the 2022 Jaguar F-PACE SVR is priced from $145,146 plus on-road costs.
The inspiration came from the original XJR-9 LM from the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1988
