Ineos has imposed a resale restriction on certain buyers who took delivery and sold it.
While the secondary market, or flippers, can help manufacturers profit by receiving a long list of orders for resale, some brands aren't just fond of the concept. Ineos Automotive has deliberately addressed the flippers of the Grenadier by imposing resale restrictions on certain buyers.
In a report by Autocar, Ineos has imposed restrictions to protect its image and reputation likely. Due to high resale values, it can also frustrate prospective buyers who want to own and drive the Land Rover Defender-rivaling off-road SUV.
One independent dealer in the Scottish Borders is advertising a 2023 Grenadier Fieldmaster with 200 miles for 77,995 pounds (around $100,270).

That is about 5,000 pounds ($6,428) more than a new one costs today. If the unit was bought before the price rise, the added value is estimated to be around 10,000 pounds ($12,856).
“We have clauses within our agent and customer contracts that are clear around ordering and onward sales, whether that be done by a company or an individual. Our agent partners have canceled a number of orders where it was evident that the buyer’s intention was to resell their Grenadier,” said a company spokesman.
“Where vehicles have been delivered and subsequently offered for sale, there is less that we can do about that specific vehicle, but we have already placed future restrictions on a number of buyers where the vehicle they took delivery of was resold.”

In the flipper's defense, an auction can be a good way to buy and sell cars quickly. It can also give buyers insight into realistic prices as it reflects a car's value on the day of sale. Online auction site Car & Classic even claimed the said market can be a lifeline for some people.
Regardless, Ineos seems to have already decided on the matter. Restricted buyers could have limited access to future models, such as the Grenadier Quartermaster pickup introduced at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and a confirmed EV off-roader slated for a 2026 launch. Stateside buyers who fancy the Grenadier are looking at a $71,500 starting price.
