A vast number of vehicle owners, regardless of type of vehicle, would love to customise their pride and joy as a symbol of ownership – from mild to wild. Motorcycles are wonderfully suited to customisation, from stickers to all-out rework of the motorcycle. Many motorcycle makers have gotten into the act of offering factory customisations, and it is now Ducati’s turn, by debuting the Ducati Factory Made programme, beginning with the Ducati Multistrada V4 (MTS V4). Oh, the programme is only available in Europe at the moment, at least. As such, buyers can select certain colours, options and accessories when they order their MTS V4. The bike will then be built as requested on the production line at Borgo Panigale. It avoids later fitments at the dealer or at third party workshops (*shudder*), no stripping panels off a brand-new bike to repaint them. It ensures that the factory warranty stays intact, too. What can customers choose? Customers can choose from a broad list of paint finishes and liveries, grouped into various themes. There are traditional Ducati colours, gloss finishes, matt options and a set of sportier “Performance” and Ducati Corse-inspired schemes. Oh yes, Ducati also cooperates with Automobili Lamborghini, resulting in several of Lamborghini’s Ad Personam colours, including Viola Pasifae and Verde Scandal. Although it is not the first cooperation between the two marques, this is the first time Lamborghini’s paint options will be available for regular production models. The Ducati Factory Made programme also allows buyers to tweak components such as wheel options including cast, forged, or spoked, and different colours for items like the rear subframe and brake calipers. There are also seat height options for rider and passenger, plus suspension height settings, allowing the bike to be tailored more closely to the rider before it even arrives at the dealership. The usual accessory packages – Touring, Adventure, Sport, Tech and Enduro – can still be added as part of the same build. The scheme also extends to the Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak and RS, although changes there are largely limited to ergonomic adjustments and selected cosmetic details. Ducati Factory Made is live now on Ducati’s website. Customers can configure their bike online and send the finished spec to a dealer for a quote, with the factory building it to that order from day one.
