Hyderabad politician, K.A. Paul has bought 5 Mahindra XUV700s. The new SUVs will be used for his election campaign in Telangana. All five XUV700s are finished in an elegant shade of white. They are the top-end AX7 variants as we can see from the video. K.A. Paul opted for the petrol engine.
The video is uploaded on YouTube by Autosmart Telugu. It is quite surprising that the MLA was able to get delivery of 5 XUV700s considering that it is in such high demand and has a very long waiting period. It seems like the politician had booked the XUV700s well in advance.
The petrol engine of the XUV700 is a 2.0-litre turbocharged unit that gets a direct injection. The engine is shared with the Thar and the upcoming new-gen Scorpio. Mahindra likes to call it mStallion engine. It produces 200 Ps of max power and 380 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The engine has set a new benchmark in terms of refinement and Mahindra claims that the Petrol XUV700 can hit 200 kmph.
You can also get a 2.2-litre diesel engine with the XUV700. It comes in two states of tune. The lower tune produces 155 PS and 360 Nm. whereas the higher state of tune produces 185 PS. It is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox with which it produces 420 Nm and if you get the 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission then the torque output is increased to 450 Nm.
The diesel engine is also one of the most refined and most powerful engines in the segment. You can also get an all-wheel-drive version of the XUV700 with a diesel engine. It comes only with the top-end AX7 variant with an automatic gearbox. The all-wheel drive is not a proper 4×4 system that Mahindra offers on the Thar. XUV700’s AWD system detects slip and then only sends the power to the rear wheels. However, Mahindra does offer a button through which you can permanently send power to all four wheels.
XUV700 Price and variants
Mahindra recently hiked the prices of the XUV700. Now, the XUV700 starts at Rs. 13.18 lakhs ex-showroom and goes up to Rs. 24.58 lakhs ex-showroom. It is offered in two trims. There is MX and the AX. The MX gets the lower state of tune of the diesel engine whereas the AX gets the higher state of tune. The AX is further divided into three variants. There is AX3, AX5 and AX7.
Bollywood actor Ranvir Shorey buys XUV700
In February 2022, famous Hollywood actor Ranvir Shorey bought a new Mahindra XUV700. It was also finished in a white shade. He opted for the top-end diesel with all-wheel drive system. XUV700 is the only SUV in the segment that gets all-wheel drive as an option. Despite not being a proper 4×4 system, the AWD system can come in handy when you are in slippery and icy situations.
