India sure is a country of bizarre incidents. Here is a man who claims that he bought a brand-new Mahindra Bolero by paying in coins. The car costs about Rs 12 lakh, on-road. The video posted by A1 Adventures shows the video of the man buying the Bolero with sacks of coins.
The video shows a group of friends entering a Mahindra showroom and enquiring about the Bolero. They get the price quote and bring in the money. Surprisingly, they bring in a few sacks and pour out the coins from the bags on the showroom’s floor.
The showroom employees complete the paperwork and hand the keys over to the new owners with a bit of drama due to the expected payment methods.
We are not sure if they paid the whole Rs 12 lakh amount with the coins or paid it partly. It is also a possibility that they already made a deal with the showroom guys and completed the purchase before making the video. The video might be just for views and seems staged.
Can you buy a car with full cash payment?
Yes, you definitely can buy a car with full cash payment. However, there is a 10% extra tax that you will have to pay. The government rules allow payment of up to Rs 2 lakh in cash. If you need to pay more than Rs 2 lakh in cash, there will be a 10% tax on that amount.
However, if you use online transfers like NEFT, there is no extra tax on the payments. Our best guess is that the man had already done the deal before shooting the video and simply staged it for getting views on his video.

We seldom have so many coins at home. If we do, you can get it changed at the banks for currency notes of the same value. Paying with coins for an automobile does not make any sense.
