FRANKFURT: The Ford Ecosport is taking the gloves off. For the compact SUV’s second facelift, Ford is equipping it with all-wheel drive for the first time.
The revamped version of the competitor to the Opel Mokka and VW T-Roc made its debut at the International Motor Show here and will hit markets at the end of the year. Ford has yet to name prices for the new Ecosport.
Ford is combining the new all-wheel drive with a 1.5-litre diesel engine delivering up to 125hp. A second diesel engine will also come available for the existing front-wheel drive variant: a 1.5-litre four-cylinder with 100hp. In addition, there will be two options for the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine, with either 125 or 140hp.
Beyond the all-wheel drive, the facelift has given the Ecosport a fresh look in the front, as well as a new, sportier special edition called the ST-Line and a broader spectrum of optional features.
The Ecosport can now be ordered with cruise control and speed limiter, partial leather trim, a heated steering wheel and ambient lighting.
