Volvo’s first-ever fully-electric model, the XC40 Recharge, has now made its way into Malaysia. The compact EV SUV will be launched here in local assembly (CKD) form, with only one single variant on offer. However, pricing information will only be furnished on 4 April 2022, alongside the commencement of online bookings. First delivery is scheduled to start by the end of April.
EXTERIOR
Although Volvo has just unveiled the XC40 range facelift globally, the XC40 Recharge will arrive in Malaysia in the pre-facelift form, similar to its existing petrol-powered sibling already sold here in Malaysia.
There are however several features exclusive to the fully-electric model, including:

Because Volvo opted to place the charging port where the fuel flap used to be, this has also freed up additional storage space underneath the bonnet for a “frunk”, giving you an additional 31 litres of cargo room.
PERFORMANCE
The fully-electric Volvo XC40 is powered by two electric motors, with one on each axle, making it an all-wheel drive vehicle.

With the 150 kW DC fast charging capability, Volvo says that the XC40 Recharge will take roughly 40 minutes to reach an 80% state-of-charge.
INTERIOR
Inside, the fully-electric Volvo XC40 Recharge remains pretty much identical to its existing petrol-powered siblings, with one key difference – the Android Automotive OS running the 9-inch central touchscreen infotainment display and digital instrument cluster.
As it is a fully-electric model, the system also features several exclusive EV-focused displays. But aside from these minor differences, the rest of the cabin is virtually unchanged. Standard features include:
