As consumer requirements changed, Jaguar identified that they had to create an SUV if they were to remain relevant and in 2015 they released the F-Pace. The F-Pace has since gone on to prove itself as a product that is worthy of the Roaring Jaguar badge.

Consider the Jaguar if you’re looking for an alternative to the BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz SUVs. It’s best suited to the individual with a family that requires the additional seating and prefers the high-riding nature of SUVs.

Is the Jaguar F-Pace a good first car?

While the F-Pace is no harder to drive than any other sedan, the large proportions make manoeuvring in and out of traffic, especially in the tight confines of a parking lot, a little more difficult. We do not recommend it as a first car, despite all the driver aids.

Is the Jaguar F-Pace a good family car?

The F-Pace offers seating for 5 and a 650-litre boot that is further expanded to 1740-litres with the rear seats folded down. Ingress and egress is easy and ISOFIX mountings are provided for child seats.

Is there a Hybrid Jaguar F-Pace?

If you’re looking for an electrified version of the Jaguar F-Pace, you will have to look at the P400e models. These PHEVs offer an electric-only range of approximately 59 km and will reportedly drop as low as 2.7 l/100km.

What’s it like to drive?

In true F-Pace style, the steering is sharp and accurate (a great example of a well-developed electric steering rack, really), the handling balance is neutral up to very high limits, and the body control is firm but compliant when the road gets twisty. Our test car rolled on the optional 22-inch wheels, but even those failed to have too much of a negative impact on the ride quality.

What is the Jaguar F-Pace like inside? 

In typical Jaguar fashion, the interior is awash with soft, supple leather and visible stitching, continuing the impression of hand-built quality. Switchgear is solid, robust and tactile in every action. While the interior can often appear sombre and dark, ordering an F-Pace with one of the lighter upholstery combinations quickly rectifies this.

Style

It’s often too easy to get the proportions wrong when you first create an SUV after building nothing but sedans but Jaguar managed to get it right. The F-Pace carries a design that is unmistakably Jaguar and the sheet metal is pulled and in all the right places to help give the impression of agility, strength and dynamism.
