Stellantis has announced that it will offer Jeep SUVs in European markets only with electrified powertrains. As part of the new product strategy, it has revealed a Jeep Compass eHybrid, a mild-hybrid variant of the compact SUV.
Jeep Compass eHybrid specifications
The Jeep Compass e-Hybrid provides a budget-friendly option to those seeking an electrified Jeep. It employs a newly developed 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine coupled to a new 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The 7HDT300, which Getrag introduced in 2012, integrates an electric motor for hybridization.

The 1.5L GSE engine develops 130 hp and 240 Nm (177 Nm of torque), while the electric motor generates 15 kW (20 hp) and 55 Nm (41 lb.-ft.) of torque. A 48-volt battery pack powers the motor. Thanks to the mild-hybrid technology, Compass eHybrid consumes up to 15% lower fuel than the previous petrol model (presumably the Compass 1.3L GSE). The electric motor can propel the wheels without the help of the engine, however, only at slow speeds and over short distances. The mild-hybrid SUV can operate as an EV in four modes:
- e-Launch: Starting the MHEV from parked condition or restarts at traffic lights
- e-Creeping: Start-up function from 0 mph to the equivalent of the gasoline idling in first gear/reverse gear
- e-Queueing: MHEV keeps going in a traffic jam, following a ‘stop & go’ pattern
- e-Parking: Parking with only the electric motor operational
Jeep Compass eHybrid features
The Jeep Compass eHybrid features a green ‘e’ badge on the left side of the tailgate. It is available in a new trim called Upland, where customers can specify a new and exclusive paint option – Matter Azur. The Upland includes 18-inch wheels, a dedicated hood decal, and new MetaKrome bronze highlights on the seven-slot grille rings and on the rear skid plate as well.
Inside, the Compass eHybrid displays a ‘Compass e’ logo in the instrument cluster. Moreover, the Upland trim includes exclusive SEAQUAL seats made of recycled plastic removed from the ocean. These feature unique contrast stitching, the Jeep logo, and an organic vinyl insert.

The Jeep Compass eHybrid will go on sale in Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal, and Nordic countries this year. The mild-hybrid SUV was undergoing testing in the U.S. before its official reveal, but there’s no word on the American launch yet. Jeep has also indirectly confirmed that it will launch an all-electric Compass by 2025 as it has promised a fully-electric EV in every SUV segment by that time.
