XPENG is still struggling to find another big growth spurt. Its start to 2026 has not been great from a straight sales perspective. It’s mostly been a matter of trying to maintain a level of stability rather than reaching for the kind of growth it’s seen in recent years. With that in mind, May was a fine month for XPENG, even if it wasn’t spectacular in any way. With 32,158 deliveries, May was a 4% improvement over April 2026. However, it was also a 4% decrease compared to the company’s May 2025 results. The company’s numbers really weren’t inspiring, as evidenced by the fact that XPENG wrote almost nothing about them in its monthly delivery report. “XPENG’s electric vehicles delivered from January to May 2026 are expected to reduce life-cycle greenhouse gas emissions by more than 2 million tons compared to internal combustion engine vehicles — equivalent to the carbon absorption of 33.16 million young trees over 10 years,” the company did write. And that’s something to celebrate! Unfortunately, though, XPENG’s deliveries across the first five months of the year, totaling 125,851 units, were down 22.6% compared to deliveries across the first five months of 2025. Despite not having any growth to report, the company did have some major milestones and progress to announced last month. It started producing robotaxis, and the new XPENG GX racked up tens of thousands of orders rapidly. So, we can expect a surge in delivery numbers down the line. Stay tuned.
