XPENG sales were up slightly year over year in August. With 39,107 vehicles delivered, the company’s sales rose 4% compared to August 2025 (37,709 deliveries). Deliveries were also up 3% month over month (from 38,027 in July 2026). Across the first 8 months of the year as a whole, unfortunately, the company’s sales are still down significantly. With 243,111 deliveries, its total across the first ⅔ of the year is 10.5% below the same period in 2025 (271,615 deliveries). So, while things are moving slightly upward for XPENG, not all is roses and chocolate in Guangzhou. However, progress continues to be made. “On August 11, 2026, the XPENG G9L made its official debut and commenced pre-sales in the Chinese mainland,” XPENG notes. That’s a promising looking model that will boost the company’s sales again. Furthermore, the company continues to be a tech leader, and it’s semi-autonomous driving technology has gotten quite good and may well convince many more buyers to buy from the brand. “In August, XPENG Robotaxi business validation gained further progress. The Company secured a permit to conduct remote testing of intelligent connected vehicles in Guangzhou, allowing road trials without an onboard safety operator on designated Level 1, 2 and 3 test roads across the city and marking a key milestone toward fully driverless road testing,” the company adds. All in all, why do we care? Because this kind of technology and progress helps us to prevent or cut global warming emissions. “XPENG’s electric vehicles delivered from January to August 2026 are expected to reduce life-cycle greenhouse gas emissions by more than 3.72 million tons compared to internal combustion engine vehicles, equivalent to the carbon absorbed by 61.6 million young trees over 10 years.” Nice.
