Gasgoo Munich- XPENG Group announced on Sept. 8 that it has activated the world's first automated production line for high-end general-purpose humanoid robots. The first such robot rolled off the line after completing automated assembly—marking a critical leap for the company's robotics division from R&D to full-scale manufacturing.Developed specifically for mass production, the line integrates mature automotive quality systems with the precision manufacturing required for humanoid robots. Built to automotive-grade consistency standards, the facility features a high-precision, flexible, and intelligent manufacturing system with an automation rate exceeding 80% in core processes—laying the groundwork for future scaling and rapid capacity expansion.XPENG's IRON robot is scheduled to enter mass production by the end of 2026, initially rolling out to commercial scenarios within XPENG stores and industrial parks. Its goal is to become a next-generation platform for general-purpose robots, capable of supporting a wide range of applications and self-reinforcement in real-world environments.To achieve this, XPENG's robotics division has built a fully self-developed technology stack with deep hardware-software integration, covering the robot's body, brain, cerebellum, data infrastructure, and underlying systems.The XPENG IRON features a human-like form factor that balances aesthetics with safety. It boasts 76 degrees of freedom across its entire body, with 21 degrees of freedom in each hand alone.On the intelligence front, the IRON is equipped with three Turing AI chips delivering 2,250 TOPS of computing power. Leveraging this capacity, XPENG has successfully deployed its Physical AI model on the edge, enabling the robot to autonomously execute complex tasks without teleoperation while ensuring low-latency inference and data security.Notably, XPENG's robotics arm recently closed its first round of financing, raising over $900 million at a post-money valuation exceeding $6.3 billion—a record for a single private equity round in China's embodied intelligence sector.
