Not only did I pay a fine of Rs 3600 to the RTO, but the delivery of my SUV was also delayed by 15 days.

Just got my car registered for the BH series in Delhi 2 days ago. It’s been an extremely tiring process, made even more difficult by the dealer’s incompetent RTO staff.
I started by getting the Form 60 and GST certificates from my company in December. Constant back and forth ensued. My company just couldn’t understand the reason for GST certificates when Form 60 explicitly stated that they’ve offices in more than 4 states. It took a month to get them both.
Booked my Compass with Landmark Jeep, after confirming with them that I had everything required. This was in the first week of January. Was informed the car had arrived and went for PDI. After PDI, again asked if I had everything required. They said yes, and I paid the full amount. This was on 29th January.
Now comes the incident which really made my blood boil. Dealer’s RTO team tries to get my file approved, fails and then comes back to me saying sir you need to add a subheading to the form. I say okay, I get the new document in 2 days and then they come back with another issue, saying this format is not acceptable. Form 60 cannot be on the company’s letterhead. This back and forth ensued for almost 15 days. I decided to go to the RTO office myself and talk to the officer responsible for approving my file. When I asked for my file from the dealer’s staff, it had the original Form 60 that I had submitted back in Jan after PDI. I take this file to the officer and he gives me a puzzling look. The first thing he says to me is: “your file seems to be complete. Who’s saying there’s a problem with it?” He approved it in the next 10 minutes.
Not only was my delivery delayed by 15 days, but I also had to pay a fine of 3600 because of delayed registration, which Landmark Jeep absolutely refused to cover, despite my documents being complete from day 1. Having lost enough mental peace because of this I took delivery, but have vowed never to deal with them again.
Advice to others
If you experience some difficulty with the process, visit the RTO office yourself. The dealership staff can turn out to be extremely incompetent like Landmark Jeep’s was.
