The Magnite has become the most successful Nissan car in recent times and a three-row version will make it even more popular
After Renault Triber’s success in India, Nissan is planning to bring in a low-cost model three-row model. After contemplating on bringing in a rebadged version of the Triber, Nissan is now working on the there-row version of the Magnite.

According to Autocar, Nissan was quite keen on introducing a rebadged version of the Triber in the Indian market. However, they wanted to make a completely new body. The development cost would have become much higher than Nissan would have liked.
Nissan will not use the rebadge version of the Triber
For the uninitiated, Renault and Nissan have a global alliance and both the brands operate a manufacturing plant in India. The brand manufactures cars like Kiger and Magnite in the same manufacturing facility.
Nissan is now working on a seven-seater version of the successful Magnite. The new vehicle will be similar to the extended Sonet 7-seater that is on sale in the Indonesian market.
Managing space inside will be a challenge
But the other features will be same as the standard Magnite
Managing space in the seven-seater sub-4m will be a challenge just like any other car. The sub-4m Triber does not offer much space in the last row and it is the same case of the Indonesian-spec 7-seater Sonet.
According to the same report, there will not be any changes in the body style of the Magnite. The second-row seats will be modified to split-fold. It will serve as access to the third row. The cargo area will get a bench seat for two additional passengers.
It is likely to offer a cramped cabin space
Nissan may add the sliding mechanism to the second row to adjust the access. However, without increasing the overall size of the car, it will be a cramped space inside.
While there is no talk on the engine, it is likely to get powered by the same 1.0-litre turbocharged unit that powers the Magnite. The naturally-aspirated engine may not be available with the seven-seater version due to the increased weight.
