Volvo is to sell only electric cars by the year 2030, and these cars will be sold exclusively online.
That means up until that time, it will begin to phase out its combustion engines, as well as plug-in hybrid models.
The decision has been taken to dramatically reduce its carbon footprint, but it's also betting on the Government's investment in charging infrastructure driving up the interest in electric cars.
Volvo will launch a new family of electric cars by 2030 and these cars will be sold exclusively via online channels. That means you'll be able to research, build, ask questions and order your perfect EV Volvo from your sofa.
Of course, there will be physical service centres to handle servicing and anything that requires a face-to-face meeting. These service centres will also handle vehicle deliveries.
Volvo launched its first all-electric model late last year, the XC40 Recharge. It plans to reveal the second in the family later today.
