The 2023 Renault Trafic has arrived in Australia armed with a new look, more standard equipment – including safety kit like auto emergency braking and adaptive cruise control for the first time – and a new model lineup to one of our favourite vans on the market. The former single- and twin-turbo 1.6-litre diesel engines have been shelved as well, with a 2.0-litre unit now standard equipment in all models. Prices have risen up, predictably, because of the new standard equipment, but Renault says that the revised Trafic range is better value than before as well.

Stylistically, the 2023 Renault Trafic has received a new front end with new LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, while the interior has changed as well with a new 8.0-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Renault has simplified the 2023 Renault Trafic lineup with the deletion of the smaller 1.6-litre diesel engine, which was available in both single- and twin-turbo forms. The only engine now available is a 125kW/380Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine, which can be had with either a six-speed manual on the base model Pro, or a six-speed dual-clutch automatic across the rest of the range. Renault claims combined fuel consumption of 7.2L/100km for the manual and 6.5L/100km for the automatic.
Standard equipment on the entry-level Pro includes 16-inch steel wheels, auto LED headlights, an 8.0-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, power windows and a leather steering wheel. Safety kit includes auto emergency braking (AEB), lane departure warning and six airbags.
The Premium adds LED front fog lights, body-coloured bumpers, auto-folding mirrors, stop/start, a wireless phone charger, automatic wipers, tyre pressure monitoring, keyless entry and a fold-down centre seat with accessories such as laptop storage. It also adds important safety equipment, including adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring and traffic sign recognition.
The Lifestyle then adds 17-inch alloy wheels, a chrome grille, a semi-painted rear bumper, satellite navigation, climate control, a heated driver’s seat, rear sun blinds, a roof lining and an anti-slip floor covering.
Optionally available is a Premium Pack ($2,000) for the Premium, which adds kit from the Lifestyle like the climate control, satellite navigation, 17-inch alloy wheels and a heated driver’s seat. The Trade Pack ($2,000) for the Premium and Pro adds a wooden floor, a full-height wall lining, LED ceiling lights, a heavy-duty battery and a spare wheel protection basket. The Peace of Mind Pack ($1,500) for the Pro adds blind-spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, auto high beam, front and side parking sensors and auto-folding mirrors. Finally, the Comfort Pack ($1,000) for the Pro adds front fog lights, tyre pressure monitoring, auto wipers, a hands-free key card, a wide-view mirror and an auto-dimming rear mirror.
Standalone options include a $400 glazed bulkhead, a $600 right-hand side sliding door for the Pro, $400 rear barn doors for the Pro, $400 glazed sliding doors for the Premium and a $100 passenger bucket seat for the Pro.
