Racing-inspired special-edition British performance SUV here in limited numbers by late this year
The 2023 Jaguar F-PACE SVR Edition 1988 has been revealed and confirmed for Australian delivery from the fourth quarter of this year.
However, the big supercharged luxury SUV – inspired by the British brand’s motorsport success – won’t come cheap and will be available in strictly limited numbers Down Under.
Just 20 examples of the 394 unique Jaguar F-PACE SVRs to be produced globally will be shipped to Australia, each priced from $189,531 plus on-road costs – $44,385 more than the standard F-PACE SVR ($145,146 plus ORCs).
And they will only be available via Australia’s eight Jaguar ‘SV Bespoke’ dealers, which are now taking orders and include Alto Jaguar, Parramatta Jaguar, Purnell Jaguar and Sydney City Jaguar in NSW, Brighton Jaguar in Victoria, Gold Coast Jaguar in Queensland, Solitaire Jaguar in South Australia and Barbagallo Jaguar in WA.
Designed to celebrate Jaguar’s win in the 1988 Le Mans 24 Hour, in which the car-maker’s XJR-9 LM racer completed 394 laps (hence the model number and production run), the V8-powered 2023 Jaguar F-PACE SVR Edition 1988 emerges less than three years before Jaguar becomes an all-electric vehicle brand in 2025.
The inspiration came from the original XJR-9 LM from the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1988
There are no changes to the large premium SUV’s ballistic 404kW/700Nm supercharged 5.0-litre petrol V8, which drives all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox and delivers 0-100km/h acceleration in a claimed four seconds.
And standard features continue to include the Pivi Pro touch-screen infotainment system, head-up display, wireless phone charging and a panoramic sunroof.
However, the 2023 Jaguar F-PACE SVR Edition 1988 is finished in a new dark-purple Midnight Amethyst Gloss paint colour that’s claimed to look “black until its amethyst undertones are revealed in bright sunshine”.
Other external differentiators are Champagne Gold Satin 22-inch alloy wheels with unique badging, Sunset Gold rear badging, Edition 1988 logos on the front quarter panels and an extended Black Pack including gloss-black mirror caps, brake calipers, wheel centre caps and the letter ‘R’ in the SVR badges.
Inside, the limited-edition Jaguar F-PACE adds semi-aniline black leather trim, open-pore carbon-fibre trim inlays, SV Bespoke and Edition 1988 sill plates and dashboard badges, and a satin-black Jaguar leaper badge on the steering wheel.
Completing the interior upgrade is a Sunset Gold Satin finish for the dashboard trims, steering wheel spokes, shift paddles, air-vents and inserts for the heated and cooled Performance front seats.
