The Mahindra Scorpio has been a game-changer for Mahindra in many ways and the company kept the Scorpio up to date with some heavy updates over the years.
That being said, Mahindra has been developing the all-new Scorpio for quite some time now and it seems Mahindra has yet another winner in their hands.
If we rewind a few years back, it is easy to recall that both the new Mahindra XUV700 and the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio were spotted testing together on various occasions.
This means the all-new Mahindra Scorpio has been developed alongside the recently launched Mahindra XUV700 and it is safe to expect the all-new Scorpio to feature many mechanical and electrical bits from the Mahindra XUV700.
From the recent spy pics, it is clear that the all-new Mahindra Scorpio has entered the pre-production form and the SUV is in its final phases of testing.
As for the design of the upcoming new Mahindra Scorpio, it takes a lot of inspiration from the outgoing Scorpio such as the upright front-end, boxy twin-pod headlamps, and tall wraparound style taillamps.
From the sides, the new Mahindra Scorpio seems to have taken a few more design cues from Mahindra’s XUV lineup of SUVs.
The new Scorpio is most likely to use body-on-frame chassis and will use Mahindra’s 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine and the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. However, these engines are most likely to come in a lower state of tune compared to the power and torque outputs in the Mahindra XUV700.
Moreover, like the Mahindra XUV700, the all-new Mahindra Scorpio will come with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission as options.
Apart from that, the top-end variant of the new Mahindra Scorpio is also expected to come with a shift-on-fly four-wheel-drive system.
On the inside, the all-new Mahindra Scorpio will come with most of the tech that’s been in the Mahindra XUV700 such as the large touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging pad, cooled glovebox, digital instrument cluster, and much more.
However, we are not sure whether Mahindra will equip the new Scorpio with the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
We expect Mahindra to price the all-new Scorpio aggressively with a starting price close to Rs 12 lakh, ex-showroom.
Thoughts About The All-New 2022 Mahindra Scorpio
The Mahindra Scorpio has been serving the Indian automotive market for quite some time without a generation update. This means the Mahindra Scorpio is no longer a popular choice among most SUV buyers and sometimes doesn’t even cut the shortlist.
So, the latest generation update is very much essential for the Scorpio nameplate to continue its presence in the Indian automotive market and we expect the new Scorpio to be one of the best-selling SUVs in the market when launched.
