While the all-new 2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N was revealed some time ago, Mahindra announced all the details about its newest SUV and on paper, it makes for impressive reading. It gets a brand-new design along with a bunch of segment-first features and conveniences. The all-new Scorpion-N was in coming for a long time and while all the details about the new SUV are out, Mahindra is yet to reveal the prices of the top-spec automatic and four-wheel drive models. So, barring the prices of a few trims, here is everything you need to know about the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N.

Starting with the design, the new Scorpio-N gets a fresh, bold design while retaining its boxy silhouette. Up front, the Mahindra Scorpio-N features a new grille, with six slats and the new Mahindra logo at the centre, below which is a honeycomb mesh for the air dams. The LED twin-pod projector headlights are a new addition to the Scorpio-N and so are the LED fog lights which sit between C-Shaped LED daytime running lamps. The hood gets strong lines accentuating its SUV stance. The SUV growing significantly bigger too. The new model grows 206 mm in length, 70 mm in wheelbase, 97 mm in width while the height reduces by 138 mm. The ground clearance on the new Scorpio-N is 187 mm. The 2022 Scorpio-N will be available in five trims which are Z2, Z4, Z6, Z8 and the top-of-the-line Z8L. The new Scorpio-N will arrive in six and seven-seater configurations and gets a front-facing third row.

There will be three engine options to choose from, a 2.0-litre petrol engine that makes 200 bhp at 5,000 rpm along with 370 Nm and 380 Nm of peak torque between 1,750-3,000 rpm on the 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options respectively. Similarly, there will a 2.2-litre diesel engine in two states of tune. The more powerful variant will make 172 bhp at 3,500 rpm with 370 Nm of peak torque coming in between 1,500-3,000 rpm on the manual variant, while the torque output on the automatic goes up to 400 Nm at 1,750-2,750 rpm. The lower-specced engine will make 130 bhp at 3,750 rpm with peak torque output of 300 Nm at 1,500-3,000 rpm. The lowed specced diesel engine will get only a 6-speed manual transmission. Mahindra said that the new Scorpio-N has the lowest CO2 emissions in its segment.
Features & Technology

This is where the new-generation Scorpio shines. It gets a bunch of segment first features such as integrated Alexa from Amazon, what3words navigation, Adrenox connected car technology with over 70 features. Then you also get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with a bunch of apps like Zomato, JustDial, TickerTape, AccuWeather and so on. There are front and rear cameras along with sensors, dual-zone fully automatic climate control, wireless charging for mobile phones and a twin dial cluster with TFT display. The Scorpio-N also gets a 12-speaker 3D audio system from Sony. There are three drive modes on offer – Zip, Zap and Zoom. There’s a 20.32 cm touchscreen infotainment system with navigation along with a 17.78 cm driver information display.

Coming to safety features, the new Scorpio-N gets 6 airbags on the top trim, driver drowsy detection, which is a segment-first feature, tyre pressure monitoring system, dynamic stability control, hill-hold, hill-descent, trailer sway mitigation, roll-over mitigation and other active and passive safety features.
Off-Road

In typical Scorpio fashion, the new-gen Scorpio-N gets a new 4XPLOR terrain management system along with electronic shift-on-the-fly four-wheel drive that is said to optimise traction on different terrains such as sand, snow, mud and tarmac. Also, the new Scorpio gets mechanical and brake-locking differential and double-wishbone front suspension with 225 mm of travel and a Penta-link suspension at the rear with Watt’s link that maintains symmetry between the left and right side and retains the centreline of the rear axle when cornering hard. The new Scorpio also gets segment first frequency dependent damping (FDD) along with rigid crash compliant structure and next-gen platform which makes the Scorpio-N even more rugged and durable over tough terrain.

Prices of the new Scorpio-N begin at ₹ 11.99 lakh and top off at ₹ 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India) Now do bear in mind that the prices of the automatic and 4WD variants will be revealed on July 21, 2022. Bookings for the new SUV begin on July 30, with deliveries starting during the festive season. Mahindra will keep the introductory prices for the first 25,000 bookings, post which prices are likely to be increased.
