Mahindra Marazzo has been in the Indian market for quite some time now but it has not been doing very well. The MPV is due for a facelift. Here, we have a facelift rendered by SRK Designs. The artist has rendered the facelift of the Marazzo with the front-end design of the Mahindra XUV700.
Up-front, there are the same C-shaped LED Daytime Running Lamps that we have seen on the XUV70. It has the new Mahindra’s twins peak logo in the centre of the new six-slat grille. Even the bumper looks very similar to the XUV700 as it has the same air dam and fog lamp housing.
The bonnet steeps significantly which is quite normal for MPVs. On the sides, there are new alloy wheels which have diamond-cut design. The outside rearview mirrors have the LED turn indicator integrated into them. The door handles also now sit flush with the body work which gives a very clean look to the MPV.
The glass area is large which should provide a sense of airiness to the cabin. The Marazzo is finished in a deep shade of violet which hides the character lines on the bodywork. There is a regular antenna and we cannot see the rear of the MPV because the rendering artist has not designed it.
It is important to note that Mahindra has not announced any facelift of the Marazzo. The rendering is based on the imagination of the artist. Having said that, Mahindra was testing the Marazzo with a 6-speed AMT gearbox.
The new gearbox would come mated to the existing 1.5-litre, diesel engine that produces 122 PS of max power and 300 Nm of peak torque. Currently, the only gearbox option on sale is a 6-speed manual gearbox. There is also an “Eco” driving mode on offer which restricts the engine to 100 PS.
The current prices of the Marazzo starts at Rs. 12.8 lakhs ex-showroom and goes up to Rs. 15 lakhs ex-showroom. There are three variants on offer namely, M2, M4+, and M6+. The Marazzo competes against Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Toyota Innova, Hyundai Carens and Maruti Suzuki XL6.
Currently, the Marazzo is the safest MPV in India. It has a Global NCAP crash test rating of 4 stars. It comes with dual airbags, seat belt warning, all four disc brakes, ISOFIX child seat mounts, Anti-Lock Braking System with Electronic Brake Distribution and overspeed warnings.
The top-end variant comes with projector headlamps, cornering lamps, coloured multi-function display, rear AC vents, fully automatic climate control, premium fabric for seat upholstery, lumbar support for front seats, centre console, front and rear foglamps and rear parking camera with dynamic guidelines.
The Marazzo is the only MPV that is based on a body-on-frame chassis. The space on offer is pretty generous. You can get it as a 7 or 8 seater. Mahindra claims that Marazzo has the quitest cabin in the segment. The boot space measures 190-litres with all the seats up, it can be increased to 1,055-litres after folding all the three rows.
