There were big question marks over the Jaguar F-Pace when it launched back in 2016. It was the British marque’s first SUV, and while everyone produces SUVs today, the public were sceptical of the historic carmaker. It turns out the F-Pace would become one of the best handling SUVs out there, and popularity soon followed. However, that was four years ago, and the time is now for a substantial refresh.
This is the updated 2021 Jaguar F-Pace, and it’s surprising what a difference a few alterations here and there have made. More distinctive LED lighting details the athletic shape, a more rakish bonnet has been fitted along with refreshed bumpers, you’ll also find a new ‘diamond mesh’ grille. It’s a smart package that looks bang up to date once again.
Relatively speaking, the exterior changes pale in comparison to the all-new interior that’s almost unrecognisable. A considerable number of revisions creates a much more plush environment that’s easier on the eye and to the touch. A new steering wheel sits next to a large 11.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Other new tech includes wireless phone charging and over-the-air updates for the car.
The other headline for this new car is the new P400e plug-in hybrid variant that joins a range of mild-hybrid petrol and diesels. P400e cars utilise a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor. The motor itself is good for 141bhp, bringing the total output to 398bhp and 472lb ft. In terms of performance, it will swiftly get to 60mph from a standstill in five seconds flat. 33 miles can be covered on electricity alone.
A pair of diesel engines come in the form of a four-cylinder with 161bhp, or a six-cylinder option packing 296bhp. The other petrol models are a non-hybrid 247bhp 2.0-litre and a 395bhp electrically supercharged straight-six. We can also expect an updated SVR performance model to arrive in the near future.
You’ll start seeing the refreshed F-Pace on the roads in December when deliveries begin, however, you’ll have to wait until 2021 for the P400e. A starting price has been pegged at £40,860 for the handsome SUV.
