The updated Jaguar F-Pace recently went on sale in South Africa, with the range-topping P400e R-Dynamic HSE coming in at R1,742,400.
This model features the highest level of equipment in the F-Pace range – not including the high-performance SVR – and is powered by a petrol-electric drivetrain.
Below, we take a look at what you get for your money.
Features
The top-of-the-line Jaguar F-Pace is filled to the brim with comfort-oriented features.
Dual-zone climate control with rear air vents, a panoramic sunroof, Windsor leather upholstery, and 14-way electrically adjustable, heated, and ventilated Performance front seats are included.
The updated models also feature an overhauled centre console with touch controls, switches for the various drive modes, and a new gear lever that replaces the circular shifter knobs of the past.
Above this panel sits another redesigned element, the 11.4-inch infotainment display which supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and voice control – while a 12-speaker Meridian sound system provides the audio experience.
A digital instrument cluster is included, too, which allows control of the adaptive cruise control, satellite navigation, and Bluetooth calling.
A few additional features were then fitted to make your daily life simpler, including keyless entry and start, rain-sensing wipers, an ECO driving assistant, automatic LED headlights, and a powered tailgate.
The F-Pace continues to show off in the safety and crash-avoidance category, and adds a 5-star Euro NCAP safety score for good measure.
Situated on each side of the sizeable SUV is a wide-angle camera that combines to display a 360-degree view of the vehicle on the central display.
This system works in conjunction with the all-round parking sensors and automatic emergency braking programme to minimise the occurrence of bumps and scratches on this new SUV.
The cameras further enable a wide range of driver assistance features, such as blind-spot assist, lane keep assist, a clear exit monitor, and a rear traffic and collision monitor.
A driver condition monitor, hill launch assist, and trailer stability assist then covers the remainder of the F-Pace’s active safety systems.
Performance
At the heart of the F-Pace P400e lies a 2.0-litre, turbo-petrol motor and a 17.1kWh lithium-ion battery.
The combined petrol-electric powertrain generates a substantial 297kW and 640Nm, and boasts a 53km pure-electric driving range.
Drive is managed by an eight-speed automatic transmission – power is sent to all four wheels via an open rear differential – and combined fuel consumption comes in at 2.2l/100km in this 2.1-tonne, plug-in hybrid SUV.
It then sprints to 100km/h in 5.3 seconds, reaches a top speed of 240km/h – 140km/h in all-electric mode – and tows up to a maximum braked capacity of 2,200kg.
In the boot, this F-Pace carries a maximum of 619 litres of cargo, while the integrated roof rails add another 75kg onto its maximum load-carrying capacity.
When buying the hybrid specification you also get a public charging wire that supports up to a 32kW DC current that can charge the battery to 80% in 30 minutes.
With a domestic 7kW wall box, this same level of charge is reached in 1 hour and 40 minutes.
