After the introduction of two all-electric XC40s, the updated XC90 and XC60 earlier this year, Volvo has revealed another so-called 'Beast' variant of one of its products at the 2022 Festival of motoring.
Volvo South Africa has been on a model launch assault over the past year or so, introducing a raft of electric and hybrid models to the local market, and it chose the 2022 Festival of motoring to make a few more model announcements while also unveiling the so-called ‘Beast 2.0’.
What’s coming?
The Swedish marque announced that the Google-based operating system seen on its latest-generation infotainment systems in the all-electric XC40 models, as well as the XC60, will be making an introduction in both the XC40 and XC90 model ranges. In addition to the aforementioned infotainment upgrades, the refreshed XC40 will also debut hybrid powertrains when it is released in the coming months.
“The Beast 2.0”
Having previously modified an XC90 with a load of off-road aftermarket goodies, Volvo decided to take a more ‘urban’ approach to things when making upgrades to the XC60 pictured here. In addition to a gloss black wrap with yellow accents, including yellow seat belts, the fully-specified XC60 T8 used for “The Beast 2.0” project also has an updated front and rear bumper along with a meatier exhaust system from Volvo-prefered fabricator Heico Sportiv. The exhaust has been paired with a performance software upgrade from in-house tuner Polestar, which is now available to local customers.
