With a deep heritage and fan base that spans the globe the Jeep brand has something for everyone. We take check out what this adventure brand has to offer.
Legacy offroad
The Jeep nameplate has been around for a long time and carries quite a bit of provenance with it. These vehicles were designed for the rough and tumble hard life of the military and then later, the farm. It was outdoor enthusiasts that created the mystique around these machines, with their go anywhere do anything carefree abandon.
As time has progressed the hardcore Jeeps have soared in popularity and price and getting into one of these vehicles is getting harder to do. If you are prepared to sacrifice some offroad capability, you can get a piece of the brand legacy with a softer edge and a keener price, Let’s take a look at Jeep South Africa’s current offerings to see which model will give you just that.
Grand Cherokee
Don’t let their size and luxury fitment fool you, the Grand Cherokee is more than capable of handling a rough off-road tour. The overall size of these vehicles may make tight overlanding somewhat difficult, but you can if you want to try.

Verdict
As you can see, the Renegade Sport is the cheapest new Jeep you can buy. While it is essentially a Fiat 500X under the skin it does have some offroad chops and can tackle light gravel and dirt. We wouldn’t recommend taking this on your next overland adventure though. To see what else Jeep has given the Renegade you can check out Jeep SA’s website to see what they have to offer.
