An unsalvageable GT-R after colliding with a tree.
An American car show in Connecticut provided a bit more entertainment for bystanders when the driver of a widebody Nissan GT-R slammed the four-wheel drive JDM machine into a tree after losing control when leaving the event. By the looks of things, this won’t buff out, ouch!
An unsalvageable GT-R after colliding with a tree.
The CCSU car show which offers American Muscle, Euro and JDM all together didn’t end well for the driver of a widebody Nissan GT-R. The highly modified icon is seen and heard exiting the parking lot of the car show before turning left onto the main road. In a matter of seconds, the grey JDM model oversteers towards the centre verge before the driver overcorrects the tail-happy manoeuvre and pirouettes off of the road and into a fairly solid tree.
Fortunately, the driver seemed ok after the impact where the left (drivers) side of the widebody Nissan GT-R was severely compromised between the A and B pillar. The airbags were deployed after a spectator recording the ordeal ran up to the incident for closer inspection of the damage. Police were rapid in response to protect the accident scene from the hordes of people that swooped in to get a closer look in what could have been a fatal incident.
The model which is well over a decade old has been discontinued in certain markets of the world for safety concerns (as well as emissions regulations) and one can see why after the outcome of this widebody Nissan GT-R.
If there is any good to come out of this perhaps it is that most of the mechanicals of this bespoke JDM model seem to be intact, with only cosmetic damage to the front of the vehicle where the engine is placed. What this means is that, if you are looking to VR38 swap your car, there may be a stripped drivetrain entering the market very soon.
