This thing needs a day at the drag strip ASAP.
The C8 Corvette Z06 is brand-new, but that hasn’t stopped people from slapping on mods. YouTuber Emelia Hartford wasted no time adding a working twin-turbo system to her newly delivered Z06, and now thanks to her latest video, we get to see it drive and launch for the first time.
Hartford took delivery of her Z06 earlier in the month and fabricated a twin-turbo system for the high-revving 5.5-liter naturally aspirated engine less than two weeks later, going by her uploads. In her last video, she detailed the build and even gave us a few revs so we could hear just what an LT6 with forced induction was like.
Video uploaded to Hartford’s channel on Monday shows the car on the road with its turbos for the first time. Hartford and her team added a boost gauge to make sure the turbochargers weren’t making too much boost, and brought a couple of monitoring devices to ensure the engine wouldn’t run lean or damage itself in any way. While she doesn’t outright send it, we are treated to a handful of pulls and even a couple of launches. The flat-plane-crank V-8 paired with the turbochargers sounds demonic, as you can imagine.
Hartford says she isn’t sure whether she’ll keep her Z06 turbocharged or take the build in another direction. We’re hoping to see the project advance and have the car out to a drag strip so it can set some record-breaking numbers, just like her last C8.
