Stellantis provided a look at the upcoming battery-electric Jeep SUV during an event about the company’s future in March, and today we’re peeping what appears to be a leaked-but-camouflaged production version.
A grainy black-and-white spy shot of what is claimed to be the mini-Jeep was shared on an Autopareri forum, but doesn’t reveal much, other than that the vehicle’s design seems well in line with the concept.
Jeep’s internal code for the unit is “Project 516” or “Jeep Junior,” but sources who spoke with Mopar Insiders now say the small SUV could be called Jeepster, a name previously used multiple times throughout the brand’s history, including on the original Willys-Overland from 1948 through 1950; and on a special edition model of the Renegade in 2020.

The B-segment SUV would fit in under the Renegade in size, and ride on Stellantis’ eCMP platform, which may or may not be offered with all-wheel-drive, but will tie the Jeep to first cousins under the Alfa Romeo and Fiat banners.
According to Autoblog, a gas version of the Jeepster will bow ahead of the EV, motivated by a 1.2-litre Peugeot engine; it could be produced in Poland and India beginning this November.
The electric version, whatever it’s to be called, could see production start April 2023, followed by a hybrid trim in January 2024.
