The Bugatti marque has always been a benchmark of engineering excellence. A name in the automotive world that you can always trust to push boundaries like no other car manufacturer. Since the 1990s its flagship models have all consisted of carbon fibre monocoques, four turbos, and all-wheel drive. The fruits of Bugatti’s labour were on full display in Dubai recently.
Like three highly-polished gems, these Bugattis shone amongst the desert dunes, each representing a milestone in the French brand’s history. It is very rare to see a EB110 Super Sport, Veyron Super Sport and Chiron in the same place, let alone in such a stunning setting. Each of these vehicles have contributed to the modern-day Bugatti legend.
The first of this trio is a Bugatti EB110 Super Sport. This car was built prior to Volkswagen’s ownership and represents Romano Artioli’s vision of an all-conquering supercar. Named EB110 for the 110th birthday of Bugatti’s founder, the Super Sport represented the ultimate version of arguably the worlds ultimate car. Powered by a quad-turbo 3.5-litre V12 engine, it produced 661bhp. Less than 40 were produced with one selling at an RM Sotheby’s auction in 2019 for £1.78 million.
The Bugatti Veyron represented a huge milestone for the automotive landscape. Here was the world’s first production car that could comfortably exceed 250mph. Engineered with the same mastery as Bugatti’s of the past, it is the Veyron that’s responsible for the marque’s reputation of excellence. This Super Sport model packs 1,184bhp from a W16 engine with four turbochargers. Its top speed of 268mph made it the world’s fastest production car at the time.
The Bugatti Chiron had some very big shoes to fill when it was launched in 2016. As the successor to the Veyron, it was expected to represent the pinnacle of automotive engineering. The 1,458bhp of this car quickly captured headlines, but the real paradigm shift came with the 300mph+ Super Sport model.
The locals of Dubai are used to seeing some incredible cars, but we bet this convoy turned many heads.
