Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+
In 2019, the Chiron Super Sport 300+ made headlines by shattering the previously unattainable 300 mph (482.8 km/h) barrier, reaching a speed of 304.773 mph (490.484 km/h) and setting a new world record. In celebration of Bugatti’s 110th anniversary, it was later revealed that only 30 units of this remarkable vehicle would be produced by Bugatti’ at its facility in Molsheim.
The Super Sport gets an upgraded version of the now iconic 8.0-litre W16 engine, which now produces 1176.798kW and 1600Nm, which is more than three times the power of a BMW M3! The additional 76kW or so comes as a result of software and turbocharger upgrades which has meant that they gearbox has received updates too!
The Super Sport 300+ also boasts a different aerodynamic profile, allowing it to maintain stability beyond 420 km/h. A key feature is its longer rear end, extending the body by 25 centimetres, which prolongs laminar airflow over the car, reducing aerodynamic stall by over 40%. Air curtains at the front corners and air outlets at the wheel arches and behind the front wheels manage air pressure, reducing drag and generating slight negative lift.
Where can I get one?
The Chiron Super Sport 300+ is limited to just 30 vehicles and has already sold out. These hypersports cars are meticulously assembled at Bugatti’s headquarters in Molsheim, France, with prices starting at over R70 million each.
