Bugatti has just announced plans to expand operations at its main facility and production plant in Molsheim, France in an effort to keep up with the growing demand for its products as we enter the post-Chiron era.
It would be a bit of an understatement to call Bugatti a low-volume manufacturer. The brand’s vehicles all carry an MSRP deep into the seven figures, be that one of the Chiron models, or one of the brand’s special projects like the W-16-powered Bolide or Mistral. That said, Bugatti has been on a bit of a roll as of late, with 2022 representing the brand’s highest volume sales year to date thanks to some 80 units sold. The Chiron itself sold out all the way back in January of 2022, with the final model being completed by December of that year. Known as the Chiron Profilée, the Pur Sport-based model would go on to sell for a record $10.8 million at auction in February 2023. Bugatti is currently working on wrapping development of its track-only Bolide model, with deliveries slated to start some time in 2024.

Development of the Chiron’s successor is surely underway, with Bugatti Rimac CEO Mate Rimac previously confirming the car will utilize a hybridized powertrain in place of a pure-electric alternative. The car is also said to share no components with the Chiron or the Nevera, keeping in line with the exclusivity the brand has come to represent. Even the brand’s famed W-16 will be phased out after the run of 99 Mistral roadsters is completed. A new internal combustion powertrain is expected to debut alongside the Chiron replacement sometime this year. That said, don’t expect series production to begin for at least a year following the debut.
To support the growing hypercar endeavor, Bugatti will add a new two-story building to their site in Molsheim. The company says the new facility will measure in at 22,820 square feet. The building will sit next to the current main production building, with construction slated for the second half of 2024. The building will host both management personnel, as well as part of the brand’s production team. In order to staff that building, Bugatti has also announced a new recruitment drive. The company is looking for experts in production, logistics, quality control, and planning. Executives aim to increase the number of staff members by more than 50 percent by the end of 2027. If you happen to be an enthusiast with some knowledge in those areas, perhaps a call over to Molsheim is in order.
