Everyone knows that the most manly thing you can drive is pick-up truck, ideally with a terrifying noun emblazoned down the side in massive font: WARRIOR or RAPTOR or NUNCHUCK. Something like that.
They’re usually all bark and no bite though – generally horrible to drive and powered by some God awful diesel engine. Not so this bad boy, a Nissan Navara with a Nissan GT-R engine transplant that’s then tuned up to 1000bhp. It’s Eddie Hall, this thing.
That means it has a twin-turbo 3.8-litre V6 that when unfettered and in situ in a GT-R gets it to 62mph in just 2.8 seconds. And using just the 562bhp. Imagine what it would do with near twice that power…
The team at SB Motorsport, led by founder Stephen Biagioni, has long held the idea of making the ultimate Nissan Navara. The company is now realising that dream using knowhow picked up from building its GT-R drift car – a car famous in its own rightm, having appeared at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and racked up millions of YouTube views.
Biagioni said: “With racing currently on hold, this was the break we needed to revisit the idea and bring it to fruition. We have the best partners and they share our vision to create another great vehicle that will challenge the normalities of what’s possible. This is going to be an exciting mix of performance meets practicality”.
SB says the Navara-R will be fully road legal, keeping the majority of the stock interior, although the suspension and other major drivetrain components are GT-R items to ensure they’re strong enough for all that power. As you can see, the thing is slammed and features a custom body kit, including a large rear wing.
“With this build, the aim is to keep the Navara road-legal, all the mod-cons of the vehicle, rather than creating a race-car chassis with minimal extras”, said Biagioni. “I'm confident in our team here at SB Motorsport, and honestly excited to see the development and work alongside our partners, who happen to be the world’s leading experts in their respected fields”.
