Back in 2019, Japanese automaker Nissan and Italian design and engineering company Italdesign teamed up to mark a couple of 50th anniversaries – that of the Nissan GT-R and the Italdesign firm itself – with the production of a prototype supercar called the GT-R50, which was debuted to much fanfare at the year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. The collaborative duo went on to confirm they would indeed make the car in a limited run of 50 models, one of which is now going up for sale here in Canada.
Ontario’s Legendary Motorcars (LMC) is presenting the number 11 GT-R50 – one of the promised 50 models, all of which have been sold but not all of which have been produced yet – for online auction.
The listing doesn’t include a price, and rather encourages interested parties to reach out to inquire, but the GT-R50 was originally sold for €990,000, or around CDN$1.5 million at the time of its initial announcement in 2019. This model also includes the €25,000 Liquid Silver metallic finish with Nismo Red accents, and the €35,000 optional Rear Hydraulic Wing.
Italdesign hand-built the car’s body, taking inspo from various of Nissan’s heritage models to create a sharper, more devilishly handsome version of the GT-R. The famed coachbuilder beefed up the hood, tweaked the lights front and rear (with rounded rear lights based on the R34 GTR), lowered the roofline while raising other elements to make it look more athletic, and threw on a large adjustable rear wing.
Nissan did its part to make the car stand out by installing larger turbochargers on the 3.8L V6 engine from the GT-R GT3 car, adding more capable pistons, and revised camshaft profiles, among other edits, all of which upped horsepower from 565 to 710, and torque up to 585 lb-ft. That’s handled by an upgraded six-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The interior of the GT-R50 is fitted with two types of carbon-fibre and gold accents on the console, panels and doors, plus black Alcantara leather on the seats. The special flat-bottom steering wheel is also partially made of carbon-fibre and wrapped in leather.
The car is listed as having “delivery mileage,” indicating it’s essentially new, so while there’s no price attached, we’d expect it to fetch near to its original listing price, if not more.
