Say hello to the Kawasaki Z650RS 50th Anniversary edition which has now reached Indian markets
Just a few days after introducing the bike globally, Kawasaki has launched the Z650RS 50th anniversary edition in India. It is priced at Rs 6,79,000 (ex-showroom Delhi), which is just Rs 7,000 more than the standard model.
Special Livery
Suspension setup comprises 41mm telescopic forks and a monoshock
The livery sways away from Kawasaki’s signature green colour, taking inspiration from the ‘Fireball’ shade offered on the 1972 Kawasaki Z1.
The Kawasaki Z650RS 50th-anniversary edition celebrates the golden jubilee of Kawasaki’s iconic Z-lineup and comes wrapped in a special ‘Candy Diamond Brown’ livery. In comparison, the standard Z650RS comes in Candy Emerald Green and Metallic Moonlight Grey colours.
Along with the livery, the 50th-anniversary edition Z650RS also gets special Z 50th badges on the tank, golden alloy wheels, and a chrome grab rail for the pillion.
Kawasaki Z650RS Engine & Specs
The new livery celebrates 50 years of the Kawasaki Z-lineup and wraps the bike in a deep brown shade
The mechanicals and features, though, remain unchanged. The bike is powered by a 649cc, parallel-twin motor putting out 68PS and 64Nm, exactly the same as its streetfighter counterpart, the Z650.
The motor is housed in a steel trellis frame, which is sprung on 41mm telescopic forks and a mono-shock. For braking prowess, the bike gets dual 300mm discs upfront along with a 220mm single disc at the rear.
The old-school nature extends to the instrument cluster too, as the bike gets a twin-dial setup with chrome bezels
Coming to features, the Z650RS packs a semi-digital instrument (with two analogue dials), all-LED illumination, and dual-channel ABS. The LCD on the console displays:
- Gear position
- Efficiency
- Fuel level
- Temperature
- Clock
- Trip meters
The Z650RS tips the scales at 192kg (kerb) and has a seat height of 800mm. These bits should make it accessible for most riders. Plus, the flat single-piece seat and the tall handlebar ensure a comfortable riding triangle.
Bookings & Deliveries
The special edition Z650RS costs Rs 6.79 lakh (ex-showroom)
To ensure this special edition stays exclusive, only 20 examples of the special edition Z650RS will make it to our shores. Bookings have commenced, as we speak, and if you’re interested, we suggest you visit Kawasaki India’s site. Meanwhile, deliveries will begin from March 2022 onwards.
Kawasaki Z650RS Rivals
Lastly, in India, the Kawasaki Z650RS goes against the Triumph Trident 660 and the Honda CBR650R. However, if budget is a constraint, one can also consider the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.
