After Alfa Romeo introduced its new model, the 2023 Tonale subcompact crossover SUV, the virtual automotive artist world went berserk trying to capture the car's design in their work; and search for new Giulia/QV/GTA expressions. So that the CGI love toned down, or so we thought.
It was only natural that the little Alfa Romeo Tonale became the digital visage donor for Giulia facelifts and the upcoming Dodge Hornet counterpart. Pixel masters rushed to imagine refreshed Quadrifoglio and GTA versions to ensure high-performance Italian sedans would carry on the legacy. But then, life happened, and Alfa's struggles were left forgotten.
Still, BMW decided to celebrate its M GmbH division by introducing a limited edition of the 2023 M4 CSL and followed up with cool stuff like the 2023 M3 Sedan 50th anniversary series. So naturally, CGI experts like Kelsonik (A car designer and renderer) remembered there was another Italian thoroughbred that could battle the M3 four-door–though it needed some upgrades.
In addition to Kelsonik, another digital artist – Germany-based virtual artist Andras S. Veres, better known as andras.s.veres on social media – has also abandoned his country's sports car for something Italian. And when “you love the BMW M4 CSL, but you need an Italian car,” it seems there is just one possible (albeit virtual) solution: a 2023 Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA Race edition… packing just two doors!
Yes, a Giulia coupe is back at the side of a track, even if only digitally. Unfortunately, we can only see it from the usual front three-quarters POV (a cinema term for “point of view”). It's too bad that we are dealing with something that is probably merely wishful thinking. As for what could be hiding under the hood, The Giulia GTA/GTAm would need to up their 533 hp game at least a little bit to properly compete with the 543-horsepower BMW M4 CSL track beast, especially since Bavarians just nailed a new production car best for the company at the Nürburgring Nordschleife racetrack!
