Stellar 1972 Corvette Discovered With Just 34k Original Miles
This dusty barn find is a very cool discovery.
Cool Find
In the automotive world, few things have stoked the fires of enthusiasts in recent years than a good old-fashioned barn find. There’s just something undeniably appealing about discovering a cool old car that’s been sitting in storage for decades, then rescuing it and giving it a new life. That’s precisely the case with this very intriguing 1972 Corvette that recently popped up for sale on eBay looking rather dusty.

One Problem
What’s particularly cool about this C3 is that it’s a matching-numbers car with just 34k original miles on the clock. As such, it looks to be in pretty excellent condition, though it certainly isn’t without its flaws. The biggest is some frame damage, according to the seller, which was caused by rust at least, not any kind of accident.

Question Mark
The seller notes that this damage could be repaired, or it’s also possible that the vintage Corvette needs an entirely new frame. That’s obviously a big hit for this particular car’s value, and that was reflected in the rather reasonable $16,500 selling price. Regardless, anyone willing to tackle the project could get a big reward for that effort.

Good Parts
The seller notes that the car’s “birdcage” is rust-free, along with the more important parts of the frame such as the motor mounts and upper and lower control arm areas.

Small Block Power
As for that powerplant, this particular 1972 Corvette is powered by GM’s venerable 350 V8, though the seller didn’t specify which output it presents. In this particular model year, the 350 could be had in either 200 or 255 horsepower outputs.

Otherwise Great
If one didn’t know that there was frame damage underneath, you’d be hard-pressed to tell that this isn’t just some fantastically kept barn find. The paint and bodywork look to be excellent, while the interior is also free of any major flaws.

Multiple Options
Thus, for the right price, this C3 looks to be a great candidate for frame repair. The owner could then drive and enjoy it or perhaps flip it for a profit, which makes it worth the effort to fix in our opinion.
