20th anniversary Wrangler V8 to be shown off alongside new military-inspired plug-in hybrid and short-wheelbase Gladiator
Jeep has released new teasers of the two new concepts it plans to reveal at its Easter Jeep Safari fan festival that’s held from April 9-17 in Moab, Utah.
Following on from an earlier tease of the a special-edition Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 designed to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Rubicon name-plate, the latest preview sketches a new concept for a military-inspired version of its Wrangler 4xe.
Featuring steel rims, US army-style stencilled graphics, and a Stars and Stripes flag, the RU31-CON graphics suggest that, like the Wrangler 392 special, it will be based on the Rubicon 4xe model.
It’s unknown what ’31’ will refers to. A third new concept previewed for the US fan fest was also shown with the curious caption “What if a truck dared to be more like an SUV to increase its departure angel?” A suggestion it’s thought that Jeep will reveal either a Jeep Wrangler ute or a short wheelbase version of its Gladiator. Expect more teases in the coming weeks ahead of the April 9 reveal.
Sadly, the V8-powered Rubicon 392 is yet to be confirmed for release in Australia and nor is the Wrangler 4xe hybrid, but Stellantis Australia has previously expressed interest in securing both models for our market.
