A first modification kit for the off-road vehicle is presented by a typical tuner. This implies that the Bronco is a little more durable than the standard model. Many tuners in the United States gasped when Ford unveiled the new Bronco in the summer of 2020.
Since then, the off-roader has been a highlight at two SEMA events, demonstrating its versatility. However, the modifications on display were essentially one-offs, with the majority of them relying on items from the Ford performance shelf. However, no well-known tuner has taken care of the new Bronco on a wide scale or with a significant number of in-house modifications.
Until now, that is, because Roush Performance has just released a first package for the off-road vehicle. This program, dubbed the “R Series Kit,” is also not overly extensive.
Consider optics: the classic tuner just applies a few stickers to the bonnet, top windshield frame, and front fenders. The sides of four-door Broncos contain extra visual motifs. Additional badges, a trailer hitch cover, and a license plate holder with Roush writing are all included.
On the entrance and outflow sides, there have been advancements.
The team from Michigan has largely left the two engines available for the new Bronco, a 2.3-liter four-cylinder and a 2.7-liter V6 turbo, unaltered. Both engines may be modified on the intake side with an enhanced air intake system that includes an off-road pre-filter, resulting in a 30 percent increase in air flow, according to the tuner.
A new rear silencer with a 7.6-centimeter tail pipe has been added to the exhaust system.
Regrettably, Roush has yet to announce whether the engines will be more powerful than in series production in the future (304 PS and a maximum of 441 Newton meters for the four-cylinder and 314 PS and a maximum of 542 Newton meters for the six-cylinder).
Roush put on a show.
The new rear silencer, which includes the tailpipe, should improve not just the sound but also the angle of the back slope.
By improving the rear approach angle, the redesigned exhaust tailpipe is also intended to boost the Bronco’s off-road performance. The wheels in the 8,5×17-inch size should also be favorable to poor road competency, and should preferably be supplied with coarse off-road tires in the LT315 / 70R17 dimension. Roush recommends General Tire’s Grabber X3 model.
Interior-design-friendly
The interior components are largely designed to keep it clean and free of harm.
Roush has a continuous floor liner that runs from the very front to the very back of the trunk. A waterproof storage container with a tow belt, matching D-rings, a torch, and work gloves is also included in the bundle. A safe can be used to store valuables. In addition, Roush contributed two key rings.
Roush ships his R Series kit, which is restricted to an undisclosed number of units, in a laser-engraved box that the tuner claims may be treasured as a keepsake. It is compatible with any of the several Bronco equipment packages and is suited for both two and four-door variants.
The intake system (480 dollars or about 426 euros) and the rear silencer and pipe (1,050 dollars or around 932 euros) are also available separately for 6,750 dollars (currently the equivalent of little under 6,000 euros).
Roush Performance is one of the first Ford tuners to provide a comprehensive Bronco tuning program. At the moment, this isn’t really meaningful. But there will very certainly be a lot more in the not-too-distant future.
