The first generation Renault Duster was on sale in India for a decade from 2012 to 2022, and played a vital role in helping the French carmaker establish a foothold in the market
We now know that the Duster will make a comeback in India, though there is no official confirmation yet. Autocar India, though, reports that the company has not directly mentioned the Duster but has revealed its future product plan for India. This includes a new mid-size SUV to take on the cars like the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Grand Vitara. Multiple other reports also suggest that the brand might launch the new Duster by end of 2023 in India.

New Renault Duster to be Underpinned by CMF-B Platform
It is no secret that it was suggested at the beginning of the year that the French multinational automaker might bring back the famous Duster moniker to India in collaboration with Nissan. The new generation Duster is in the works and could arrive in late 2023 or early 2024. The upcoming Duster in India is likely to be underpinned by Renault-Nissan’s new CMF-B platform. The last model, however, was based on the iconic B0 platform. The new CMF-B platform will pave the way for the next generation of automobiles to come into the market in the coming years. As per reports, Renault is preparing to invest more than Rs 4000 crore in India. This upcoming mid-size SUV is said to be in the works for a long time now and is likely to soon make its debut within the next one year.

Renault is likely to utilise the same platform for its upcoming range of new-generation SUVs and vehicles based along with new parts and new features. This new platform also supports different body types and engine setups such as hybrid, plug-in hybrid and gasoline engines. As mentioned earlier, the CMF-B platform is being heavily localised to meet the needs of the Indian automobile sector. It is also rumoured that the upcoming Duster might boast a similar design as the Bigster concept and the CMF-B EV platform will be used to build its electric version. A Nissan-badged version will also make it to the market.

Could Get Design Cues from Bigster Concept
For those who don’t know, Renault subsidiary Dacia debuted the 2021 Bigster 3-row SUV concept. The front fascia of the concept car had an aggressive design and a full width grille. Dacia`s distinctive Y-shaped headlight was also added to the front grille. Furthermore, the front fascia featured a square-off bumper that houses two vertical air intakes in the middle of a large centre grille. LED lighting was integrated into its grille. The wide 5-spoke wheel alloys of the vehicle gave the impression of a massive Duster SUV from the side profile. The big smooth tailgate with the two Y-shaped taillights and the Dacia emblem was the epitome of the Biggest concept. Most of these design cues could make it to the upcoming model earmarked for India.
