The Duster was one of the early adopters of the compact-SUV body style and the upcoming model is being overhauled form the group up
Years ago, the Renault Duster became a blockbuster car in the Indian market. It was the first mid-size SUV on a monocoque platform. Renault did not update the India-spec car with the international model, which made it outdated. Renault is now working on the new Duster based on the CMF-B platform.
Overview
Renault India has discontinued the current-generation Duster in the Indian market after offering it for a decade. The French manufacturer is now working to introduce an all-new Duster that will arrive in the Indian market next year. According to Autocar, the new Duster will offer a value-for-money product. The biggest change will be the Duster moving away from the B-Zero platform to an all-new CMF-B platform, which underpins many Renault cars in the international markets.

The all-new Renault Duster will use the CMF-B LS platform that is derived from the CMF-B. The LS stands for Lower Spec and will allow Renault to price the car aggressively in the Indian market. Think of the new platform as a low-cost derivative for developing markets like India.
VW Group is using the MQB A0-IN platform, which is derived from the much more advanced and expensive MQB A0 platform. The new LS platform is a similar derivative.
Renault claims that the new CMF-B LS platform meets all the global safety regulations and will be able to offer hybrid powertrains in the upcoming Duster. This is essential for offering fuel-efficient variants as Renault has stopped selling diesel engines in the Indian market.
All-new Duster will keep the iconic looks alive
The current-generation Duster served for almost ten years in India
Renault will want to keep the all-new third-generation Duster very similar to the previous versions. The all-new compact SUV will carry many design elements from the previous version of the car. We can even see a lot of design cues from the bigger sibling – the Bigster concept.

To keep the identity intact, Renault will use flared wheel arches, squared-off fenders, headlight integrated into the grille and the bold stance. Renault is yet to confirm the availability of the AWD or 4X4 variants of the upcoming Duster. Since the sales of 4X4 vehicles remain very low in India, we are likely to see only 4X2 variants initially.
