In case you missed it, BMW has recently launched the latest models of the X5 and X6 and they come with exciting updates. These Bavarian SUV’s now feature 48V mild-hybrid technology and advanced automated driving and parking systems.

Let’s quickly recap the performance details. As we mentioned before, the outgoing X5 and X6 M50i models are being replaced by the M60i, which is equipped with a new 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine and 48-volt mild hybrid technology. The power output remains the same as the outgoing M50i, with 390 kW and 750 N.m of torque. However, the new M60i is expected to deliver better performance and improved efficiency, thanks to its 8-speed automatic transmission.
Both the X5 M60i and X6 M60i can go from zero to 100 km/h in just 4,8 seconds. BMW has also confirmed that the new V8 powertrain will also be used in the X5 M. This mild-hybrid system incorporates an electric motor integrated into the transmission, providing an additional boost of up to 9 kW and 200 N.m of torque.

The outgoing X5 xDrive45e has been renamed as the X5 xDrive50e and now offers increased performance. It combines a latest-generation 3.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with a new electric motor, resulting in combined outputs of 360 kW and 700 N.m, previous power figures were recorded at 290 kW and 600 N.m of torque. The engine now produces 230 kW, and the electric motor produces 142 kW, enabling acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 4,8 seconds. The battery has a claimed electric range of 94 to 110 kilometres in the WLTP cycle.

The latest generation 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder engine in the X5 and X6 xDrive40i now produce 30 kW more power than before, reaching a peak power of 280 kW. Torque has also increased by 70 N.m to 520 N.m. BMW claims a 5.4-second sprint from zero to 100 km/h.

In the X5 xDrive30d, the sole diesel offering, the 6-cylinder 3.0-litre turbodiesel engine has been updated with steel pistons, an optimized oil separation process, and a new direct injection system. Combined with BMW’s mild hybrid system, the X5 and X6 xDrive30d now produce 219 kW and 670 N.m, previously they produced 195 kW and 620 N.m of torque. It is said to sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds.
