The Selayang Hospital’s paediatric ward is a regular stop for Perodua’s corporate social responsibility initiatives; this is the third such visit, as Perodua had committed to a sustainable charity programme with the hospital’s paediatric ward until 2020. The first visit happened in 2018 in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebrations (as did the second visit earlier this year). This time, it’s not CNY but the ward still received contributions of medical equipment and goodies from Perodua.
To the ward, Perodua contributed another pulse oximeter (oxygen measurement device) and three portable screens. The company also distributed money packets and gift bags containing stationery to about 100 child patients.
The refurbished play area features graphics with safety and environmental themes – topics which Perodua is passionate about. It also plans to educate the child patients about safety and the environment through various activities in the coming years.
Perodua President & CEO Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad presented a pulse oximeter to Selayang Hospital Deputy Director 2 Pn Nik Nor Aniza Nik Mohd Zain, witnessed by Selayang Hospital Paediatric Ward Head Dr Selva Kumar (on her right) and management of Selayang Hospital and Perodua.
“Our efforts do not stop here – we have lots of activities planned for the children in the coming years, including story-telling, movie screenings, puzzle games and origami. We are also looking at doing a book donation drive to populate the play area’s library,” Dato’ Zainal said.
“This is our small way of thanking the Selayang Hospital paediatric ward staff for their dedication and efforts in caring for the children, and for all the child patients here, we hope we can make their days a little brighter and their smiles a little wider,” he added.
