The new Nissan Townstar 2022’s keys
Nissan emphasizes the fact that the new Tonwstar has the best habitability in its class. The five-seater Combi variant has the maximum legroom (1478mm front and 1480mm rear) and shoulder room (1524mm front and 1521mm rear). Getting in and out of the car is a breeze thanks to the almost 90-degree opening of the front doors. Furthermore, the back doors are slipping.
Depending on how the inside is designed, the load capacity ranges from 775 to 3,500 liters.
In addition, the 49.5 liters of storage distributed by the distinct storage compartments at the front and rear of the cabin must be added.
The new Townstar Combi’s technical equipment is solvent. LED headlights (standard), 360o vision camera, traffic sign recognition, lane change assistance, trailer helper, hill start assistant, emergency brake aid, and anti-crash assist are among the other features. Dual-zone temperature control and side wind.
The new Nissan Townstar 2022’s powerplant
In terms of the mechanical department, the new Townstar is powered by a 1.3-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 130 horsepower and 240 Nm of maximum torque. A block that meets the Euro 6D emissions standard and announces a fuel consumption of 6.4 liters per 100 kilometers on average.
Drivers who are ready to take the plunge into completely electric mobility will have a 100 percent electric variation available in no time. According to the WLTP cycle, the Nissan Townstar EV will have a range of 285 kilometers. An electric van that pays homage to the Nissan e-NV200, which was manufactured in Spain until recently.
The new Nissan van has a starting price of € 17,110. The Townstar will be covered by a 5-year or 100,000-mile warranty, whichever comes first. Nissan’s commercial vehicle sector uses it as one of its advantages to distinguish itself apart from its primary competitors. We must also keep in mind that the new Townstar is competing in a fiercely competitive category.
Nissan’s light commercial vehicle model range has traditionally been based on the Renault lineup. Nissan is introducing a successor to the NV250 with the launch of the new Kangoo at Renault. It is based on the French pickup truck once again, but now goes by the name Townstar. It joins the Interstar and Primastar models in the Japanese star classification system.
Only the appearance has changed.
The Nissan Townstar looks a lot like the Kangoo, which isn’t unexpected. To the Japanese, the local celebrity is taking on a new persona. A redesigned radiator grille with a honeycomb structure in the middle is included with the standard LED headlights. It attempts to imitate the V-Motion front design. A new apron with integrated daytime running lights completes the conversion.
The Townstar is the first European vehicle to have the new Nissan brand emblem, which will also be seen on the Ariya in the future. The Townstar nearly completely replaces the Kangoo in the rear perspective.
Both as a vehicle and a van
The new Nissan Townstar comes in two versions: a laminated commercial vehicle and a glazed station wagon with up to seven seats for passenger travel. The Townstar transporter has a cargo capacity of up to 3.9 cubic meters, which is limited by an adjustable partition. Two Euro pallets should fit within, and the payload capacity is 800 kg. A trailer load of up to 1.5 tons is specified. Unloading the transporter is made easier by two sliding doors on the side. An upward-opening tailgate or asymmetrically split wing doors that open 180 degrees are available at the back, depending on the model version.
On board, there is order thanks to intelligent storage space solutions and a special compartment for office utensils.
The car variant has a storage capacity of up to 775 liters, comfortable seats, and high-quality door panels. Nissan 1: 1 has adopted the Kangoo’s cockpit design, which has a connected touchscreen and a raised control island with a gear knob. The station wagon has two sliding doors as well, but always has a big tailgate. There’s also a roof rail.
Gasoline or electricity?
The driving paradigm also allows for flexibility of choice. The Townstar is offered in a completely electric version, which replaces the e-NV200, as well as models with a 1.3-liter turbo gasoline engine with 130 horsepower, 240 Nm torque, and a manual six-speed transmission. The electric motor produces 90 kW of power and 245 Nm of torque.
Ranges of up to 285 kilometers are attainable when using a 44 kWh battery. The electric car can be charged to 80 percent battery capacity in 42 minutes using direct current fast charging stations with a charging capability of 75 kW. The Townstar includes an on-board charger with 11 or 22 kW for charging with alternating current.
The Townstar, like all new commercial vehicles, comes with a five-year Europe-wide warranty of up to 160,000 kilometers, which also applies to the passenger car version. The battery in the electric variant is likewise covered by an eight-year warranty for up to 160,000 kilometers. The new town star’s price has yet to be announced by Nissan. The Nissan Townstar is produced alongside the Renault Kangoo in a French factory near the Belgian border in Maubeuge.
Nissan is introducing the Townstar as a replacement for the Kangoo sibling NV250 and the electric e-NV200. The manufacturing process is shifting from Spain to France. A commercial vehicle and a passenger automobile variant of the Townstar are both available. There is also an all-electric variant.
