Cosmetic tweaks but no spec or price changes for Nissan’s MY22 Toyota LandCruiser fighter
Nissan Australia has introduced a model-year upgrade for its flagship 2022 Nissan Patrol off-roader, which is now in dealerships.
Following an extensive update two years ago, the 2022 facelift is purely style-focused with both the Ti and Ti-L models treated to a new front fascia but no tweaks to their respective standard equipment list.
This is reflected in their unchanged list prices of $82,160 and $95,115 plus on-road costs respectively.
For the Ti, the cosmetic changes include a new grille, updated corporate badge and redesigned front wing vents, while the more lavishly-equipped Ti-L forgoes the new grille but still gains the refreshed badging and vent design.
Everything else on both variants remains as it was in 2021 with the headline feature still being the 5.6-litre naturally-aspirated V8 petrol engine paired to a seven-speed automatic transmission.
With unchanged outputs of 298kW/560Nm, both Nissan Patrol models retain their 3500kg braked towing capacity for 2022 and continue with a Helical limited-slip rear differential, off-road monitor and hill descent control for when conditions get tough off-road.
Other standard equipment highlights on the Ti include 18-inch alloy wheels, an 8.0-inch infotainment interface featuring satellite navigation, AM/FM radio, Bluetooth, CD and DVD-playing capabilities, three-zone climate control, power-adjustable front seats, leather-appointed upholstery, ‘hydraulic body motion control’ suspension, 360-degree camera and automatic headlights.
The Ti-L adds a memory function for the driver’s seat and mirrors, 13-speaker Bose sound system, two 8.0-inch entertainment screens in the second row, power tailgate, power sunroof, puddle lamps, heated and cooled front seats, an electronically-adjustable steering column, and more.
After a record 2021, Nissan Australia managing director Adam Paterson said the Patrol’s “legendary status” had only increased, with the MY22 update primed to elevate it even further.
“It’s a testament to the Y62 Patrol that its strongest year on record in Australia coincided with the model’s 70th anniversary, which proves the Patrol is only getting better and more popular with each new variant,” he said.

“The MY22 Patrol furthers the story in Australia, as the fan base for this legendary vehicle continues to grow.”
As for the prospects of a dedicated Patrol flagship, Nissan Australia has confirmed to carsales that the Nissan Patrol NISMO is “currently not available” to our market after previously being under study.
However, a beefed-up Nissan Patrol Warrior developed in collaboration with local partner Premcar is still on the agenda, even if the project is yet to be given the final green light.
“We think there is potential for a Patrol Warrior and are actively working to gain global support for a program,” a Nissan Australia spokesperson said.
