The festival was complete with a drag strip, a Motorkhana, DJ sets, and among others.
The Nissan GT-R has a rich history and outright performance to warrant tons of fans and enthusiasts around the world. But among them, those who reside in the Land Down Under may have found heaven on Earth at the 2023 Platinum Racing Products GT-R Festival.
Thanks to Motive YouTube channel, we got an overview of what went down at the “biggest and best” GT-R event yet. According to the channel, there were over 7,000 people and 500 cars at the Sydney Dragway, solidifying the Aussie GT-R scene.
The 2023 Platinum Racing Products GT-R Festival hosted guests with various sections, from a drag racing strip and Motorkhana to DJ sets and VIP areas.
The festival also set up a GT-R Elite Display, containing some of the rarest models and specifications, and welcomed cars from other brands like the Lamborghini Huracan and Toyota Supra.
International guests include renowned LA-based car photographer Larry Chen, also known for his works with the late Ken Block, who graced the festival. Even he was surprised to experience the atmosphere seeing all the people and cars.
“I knew that it existed but I didn't realize the scale of this event (GT-R Festival). I've been to a lot of GT-R events all over the world, in Japan, in the US, and in Europe, but they were nothing like this. This was insane,” said Chen.

The festival also saw the awarding of various GT-R builds, with over 20,000 dollars worth of trophies across the Show & Shine, Drag Racing, and Dyno Competition. Here is the list of best GT-R models from the R32 Skyline to the R35 GT-R.
1) Best R32 GT-R – Norri Factory GT-R by Josh Norris
2) Best R33 GT-R – 400 N1 by Andrew Hannason
3) Best R34 GT-R – KNGJDM by Ricardo Marques (also won the Best Interior)
4) Best R35 GT-R – HYPOGTR by Farhaad Mohammed
But perhaps the most important accolade was Motive Video's own Motive Choice award handed to Skyline Australia NSW for its entire display and continued support of the GT-R Festival.
It is still unclear whether a rumored R36 could join future festivals anytime soon. But events like this help strengthen the GT-R's legacy that is still an icon even after 15 years.
