Nissan UK has announced pricing of its new compact van Townstar. The fully electric offshoot prices will start from £29,945 (excluding VAT and PiVG) for a short-wheelbase Townstar equipped with a 45kWh battery, with a range of up to 183 miles WLTP combined or up to 269 miles in city cycle.
The Japanese vehicle manufacturer had introduced the Townstar in late 2021 to replace the e-NV200. At the time, it was reported to feature a 44 kWh battery, compared to the e-NV200 with a maximum of 40 kWh on board. It appears this has been upgraded yet again, but only by a single KWh. The electric Townstar is expected to be produced in Maubeuge, France, one of the commercial vehicle competence centres of the manufacturer alliance.
In terms of carrying capacity, the Townstar provides a generous payload of up to 600kg (SWB) or 800kg (LWB). The maximum braked towing capacity stands at 1,500kg. The Townstar will be available in four different trim levels, which all feature the same powertrain. The differenteces between the trim variants ‘Visia’, ‘Acenta’, ‘Tekna’ and ‘Tekna+’ generally lie in driver assist features, as well as some cosmetic ones. The top two model variants will also come with DC fast charging capabilities, considerably improving on the 11kW charger included in the ‘Visia’ trim.
Prices for all-electric short-wheelbase examples start from the previously mentioned £29,945, and range upwards to £34,845 for a ‘Tekna+’ model. Long-wheelbase all-electric Townstar varies in price from £31,245 for the basic ‘Visia’ up to £35,845 for the tip trim ‘Tekna+’.
“We’re delighted to be providing more information about all-new Townstar as its arrival in the UK approaches,” said Allan Newman, LCV product manager at Nissan GB, adding: “Offering two efficient powertrain solutions, practical design and unique Nissan technologies, it is comprehensively equipped to meet customers’ ever-changing needs. With tougher emissions standards, urban access restrictions, and ever-increasing demand for last-mile delivery, businesses large and small need to find effective and sustainable solutions to remain competitive and optimise their operations.”
