Earlier, Hero MotoCorp trademarked the name ‘Karizma XMR’, hinting at the return of the ‘Karizma’ nameplate after a brief hiatus. Now, the two-wheeler manufacturer has released a 14-second teaser video of its upcoming motorcycle.
On top of that, Hero MotoCorp also confirmed that its new motorcycle has been scheduled to be launched on June 14. However, there is a possibility that the new motorcycle could be the heavily-revised iteration of the Hero Xtreme 160R motorcycle.
That being said, the teaser video embodies a racing theme, in which the upcoming motorcycle can be seen on a paddock stand. While this could hint at a fully-faired motorcycle (Hero Karizma XMR), a few details hint that this motorcycle could be the updated Hero Xtreme 160R motorcycle.
Looking at the revealed portion of the motorcycle in the teaser video, the motorcycle sports alloy wheels that are almost identical to the ones in the outgoing version of the Hero Xtreme 160R motorcycle.
In addition to that, the motorcycle also comes equipped with cross-slotted petal disc brakes, which is also identical to the one in the outgoing version of the Hero Xtreme 160R motorcycle.
In comparison, looking at the images of the Hero Karizma XMR from the dealer’s event, that version of the Karizma motorcycle featured different-looking alloy wheels and slotted wave-pattern disc brakes.
Furthermore, since the upcoming Hero Karizma XMR could be the brand’s most prestigious offering, the motorcycle could be launched just ahead of the festive season. This will ensure better initial sales response as well.
Looking at all the above-listed details, we expect the motorcycle in the teaser video to be the updated Hero Xtreme 160R motorcycle. This motorcycle is expected to come with revised styling, and more features as well.
That being said, the updated Hero Xtreme 160R motorcycle is likely to be powered by the same tried-and-tested 163cc, air-cooled, SOHC engine. This engine in the outgoing version of the motorcycle produces 15bhp of peak power at 8,500rpm and 14Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm.
However, there is a possibility that this engine could be tuned for more peak power. This will also mean that the updated Hero Xtreme 160R could come with a more highway-friendly 6-speed gearbox as well.

With the launch of the updated Hero Xtreme 160R, Hero MotoCorp could attract more customers to its dealerships across India. Furthermore, these increased walk-ins could positively benefit the sales of other products as well.
