BMW has opened pre-bookings for the new 2022 BMW X4 in India. The new and upcoming 2022 BMW X4 is a facelifted version of the outgoing model, and interested consumers can pre-book the 5-seater SUV by paying Rs 50,000 online.
According to sources, the new 2022 BMW X4 facelift model will go on sale in March and the deliveries are likely to take place thereafter on a first-come-first-serve basis. It is also worth mentioning that the pre-booking for the new BMW X4 can only be made online via BMW’s India website.
Speaking about the new BMW X4, the model made its global debut on June 2021 and featured a significant makeover compared to its immediate predecessor. The update brought in new features and styling elements to the BMW X4. We expect all these changes on the upcoming India-spec 2022 BMW X4.
As mentioned earlier, the updated version of the BMW X4 gets significant changes on the exterior and these changes make the new BMW X4 design language in tune with the brand’s newer models. However, the overall silhouette remains largely identical to the previous one.
This means the new facelifted version of the BMW X4 gets the controversial large kidney grille along with slimmer and sleeker-looking LED headlamps. Apart from these changes at the front, the new BMW X4 also gets a new reprofiled front bumper with larger sportier-looking air vents.
Moving to the rear, the new facelifted version of the BMW X4 gets a pair of new LED taillights that are slimmer and sleeker-looking units along with new reprofiled rear bumpers with sharper creases and bit more pronounced exhaust tips.
These changes along with gloss black inserts make the new facelifted version of the BMW X4 look a lot more sporty and contemporary.
Apart from that, BMW has also teased the upcoming Black Shadow Edition of the BMW X4 SUV. However, unlike the standard model, the Black Shadow Edition will be available in just limited numbers and BMW is yet to announce the exact number of BMW X4 Black Shadow Editions that will be made available in the country.
On the inside of the new BMW X4, it sports a larger 12.35-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. Thanks to the larger screen, the AC vents below the screen has been redesigned to look more proportionate.
Apart from these, the new BMW X4 also sports a new digital instrument cluster and new switchgear of the climate control. However, the dashboard design somehow stays relatively the same.
Under the hood, the BMW X4 is powered by three engine options. The base engine is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine with 187bhp of peak power, the next engine option is a turbocharged petrol with an almost identical displacement with 248bhp of peak power.
The third engine option is a larger 3.0-litre 6-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with 261bhp of peak power. All these engines come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard.
When launched, the new BMW X4 will rival the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe and we expect BMW to price the new BMW X4 anywhere between Rs 60-75 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
