From Black Edition to T-Spec, Smokey Nagata and his crew gave this old GT-R a new lease on life.
Despite being around for so long, tuners across the globe are still dead-set on reworking the Nissan GT-R. The latest example of this is none other than Mr. Smokey Nagata of Top Secret who is more than familiar with taking a car to the next level. This particular build, however, is not quite as dramatic as what you would expect from the likes of his 930-horsepower Toyota Supra.
The 2011 GT-R Black Edition that is currently listed on auction site Bingo Sports has been given an alteration to almost every aspect of the car for it to align to the specification of the recently revealed limited edition GT-T-Spec. Starting with the visuals, Top Secret has altered the Japanese GT to look more intimidating with a set of panels that widen the car by 0.8 inches on either side. A set of carbon fiber side steps are applied to the sides to further enhance the car's muscular stance.
At the front, a new bumper that is the same size as the original has been applied with daily usage in mind. The rear features a new wing design that adds to the presence and downforce of the GT-R while maintaining a road-legal status. The entire appearance is rounded off with the Millennium Jade paint which was applied to the factory GT-R T-Spec. This is complemented by a set of OZ 35 GT-R SF Top Secret alloy wheels finished in a custom black shade.
Very little drama has been added beneath the hood where the twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine lies. Using an updated ECU map from the MY2021 model, Top Secret was able to increase the power output up to the current standard 600 hp from the original 542 hp figure.
Additional changes include a new set of LED head- and taillights that allow users to benefit from improved visibility in low-light driving conditions. Top Secret states that light changes were made to the suspension as well but there are no specifics provided.
Nagata-san has provided the cabin of this GT-R with a casual rework while focusing on functionality and luxury. The dashboard has been covered in carbon fiber while a set of Bride semi-bucket seats have been placed to ensure the well-being of the driver and passenger when hitting a set of fast corners. As an ideal finishing touch, Nagata added his signature beneath the bonnet when the car was on display at this year's Tokyo Auto Salon, further adding appeal and value to this build. This 2011 model currently boasts just over 14,600 miles on the clock and has been listed for ¥14,120,000 which is approximately $122,000.
