Mazda has updated its 2 and 3 hatchbacks, and CX-3 and CX-30 crossovers with a host of new features as standard.
The South African starting prices for these models come in at R280,600, R387,800, R358,900, and R469,000, respectively.
Mazda 2
Mazda’s entry-level hatchback, the Mazda 2, has been extensively updated for the upcoming year.
Standard features now include LED headlamps, all-round electric windows, central locking, a height-adjustable driver seat, a push-start ignition, a multifunction steering wheel, Bluetooth support, and auto-leveling headlights.
In the safety department, the hatch gets ABS with emergency brake assist and two airbags in the base model – while the rest of the line-up gets six airbags.
The range is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that puts out 85kW and 148Nm, and pairs to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox.
Mazda 3
The Mazda 3 is Mazda’s premium hatchback.
The updated model is fitted with an 8.8-inch infotainment display with smartphone mirroring, automatic LED lights with headlight leveling, a start-stop system, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, front one-touch electric windows, a heads-up display, rain-sensing wipers, a push-start ignition, and a leather multifunction steering wheel.
In terms of safety features, the 3 is equipped with auto hill-hold with launch assist, ABS with emergency brake assist, and seven airbags.
The 3 line-up is driven by either a 1.5-litre or 2.0-litre petrol engine connected to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox.
Mazda CX-3
The CX-3 is the entry-level crossover from Mazda.
This crossover now boasts cruise control, a push-start ignition, a multifunction steering wheel, power-folding mirrors, all-round electric windows, and Bluetooth support.
The updated CX-3 is also fitted with ABS with emergency brake assist and six airbags, a pedestrian brake function, hill launch assist, an electronic parking brake, and six airbags.
Providing drive in this model is a 2.0-litre petrol engine generating 115kW and 206Nm, with the same gearbox options as the hatchbacks available.
Mazda CX-30
Mazda launched the CX-30 in January 2021 as the mid-range option in its crossover line-up.
For the upcoming model year, this Mazda now sports automatic LED lights with headlight leveling, front fog lamps, a start-stop system, power fold mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, a heads-up display, cruise control, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, front one-touch electric windows, a push-start ignition, an 8.8-inch infotainment display with smartphone mirroring, and a leather multifunction steering wheel.
Driver-assist and safety programmes for the crossover include ABS with emergency brake assist, hill-hold assist, and seven airbags.
The CX-30 update also sees the addition of the Carbon Edition trim to the line-up.
The entire CX-30 range is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine producing 121kW and 213Nm, connected to a six-speed automatic transmission.
