The coronavirus pandemic has undoubtably changed our day-to-day lives, but if it were not for the support of the NHS and other frontline charities, we’d be in far worse shape. Mazda UK recognises this and is supplying a fleet of cars to Team Rubicon UK to help support relief efforts.
At least 10 Mazda vehicle’s have been provided for Team Rubicon UK to help it volunteers help supply vital PPE and help train people on how to use it most effectively. The charity is made up of mainly ex-military personnel who’s skills have been repurposed to help with disaster relief. It described the coronavirus pandemic as ‘the biggest peace-time challenge’ the UK has ever faced.
The fleet of cars primarily consists of new Mazda CX-5 SUVs that offer good levels of cargo space for the transportation of vital equipment. These vehicles were supplied through Mission Motorsport, The Forces Motorsport Charity. Special recognition needs to go to SMH Fleet Solutions for preparing the cars.
Ben Lampard, Director of Operations, said: “With the launch of Op RE:ACT, Team Rubicon UK is mobilising the UK’s military veterans who have answered the nation’s call for volunteers. Our veterans have served their country with pride and distinction and they’re ready to step forward to serve again, this time on home soil. Now more than ever their unique skills and experience can help to protect and save UK lives.”
Last year the Team Rubicon UK volunteers helped over 250,000 people in counties such as the UK, Bahamas, Mozambique, Indonesia, Dominican Republic, Nepal and Uganda. Their efforts make a huge difference to those who fall victim to disaster.
Jeremy Thomson, Managing Director, Mazda UK commented: “The COVID19 emergency affects us all and we all have a part to play in the fight against the virus, we see the support of Team Rubicon as an extension of our support for military veterans and an opportunity to contribute in a small way to the fight.”
We thank Team Rubicon UK and Mazda UK for their efforts to help provide the support to those who really need it during this pandemic.
